The Urban Mobility Lab initiative supports the unfolding of research- and innovation-potentials in dedicated urban spaces. Notably through the exchange and integration of different actors in a cooperative framework and with the goal to transfer research findings into practice. The initiative was launched in 2014 by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT). In the current implementation phase of the Urban Mobility Laboratories, AustriaTech accompanies the national activities and at the same time acts as a national and international contact point.
At the beginning of 2018, the national network of mobility laboratories was expanded to include a transformation laboratory on the topic of mobility behaviour change.
