In 2024, a series of innovative national projects on automated mobility has been launched. While the auto.ready project aims to create the basic conditions for the implementation of automated mobility, other initiatives focus on specific mobility solutions for cities, regions and alpine areas. The projects are funded by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, and the Climate and Energy Fund.
HAF-ALP-TOUR

Hybrid and Automated Fleets (HAF) in Alpine Tourism Regions
Project start: 02.09.2024 Project end: 01.09.2027
The HAF-ALP-TOUR project addresses mobility issues in Austrian Alpine regions through the use of Hybrid and Automated Fleets (HAF). The aim is to develop sustainable, efficient and flexible mobility solutions that meet the specific requirements of Alpine tourism regions, increase resilience and reduce environmental impacts. In addition, the project aims to create a basis for the use of HAF in Alpine tourism regions.
CarryMeHome

Energy-efficient, modular and seamless passenger and goods transport with a focus on active mobility
Project start: 01.10.2023 Projekt end: 30.09.2026
The ‘CarryMeHome’ project is developing a mobility and vehicle concept for the Weiz and Feldkirchen regions. The focus is on sharing offers for private and commercial use with regional, flexible and sustainable vehicles. The ‘CarryMeHome’ is a universal transport trolley that enables goods to be transported from the shop to the front door, making everyday shopping easier.
HyFAR
https://projekte.ffg.at/projekt/5124757
Hybrid fleets and automation for regional development
Project start: 01.10.2024 Project end: 30.09.2026
The HyFAR project is investigating the integration of hybrid and automated fleets into mobility and transport systems in Austria. The aim is to develop interoperable control centres, sustainable deployment scenarios and optimised components for safe fleet operation. HyFAR supports the scaling of automated fleets from pilot projects to large-scale deployment in regions.
FLIP-FLOP
https://projekte.ffg.at/projekt/5121432
Flexible Line and On-demand Public transport
Project start: 01.06.2024 Project end: 31.05.2026
The FLIP-FLOP project is developing an AI-based tool for optimising urban mobility services that combine traditional bus lines and on-demand taxis. Using generative networks, machine learning and optimisation techniques, vehicle usage and route planning will be adapted to passenger needs in real time to increase efficiency and flexibility. Alternative drive systems and advanced technologies such as electric buses and automated vehicles will also be analysed and evaluated.
auto.Ready
https://projekte.ffg.at/projekt/5128526
Readiness framework for automated mobility in Austria
Project start: 01.10.2024 Project end: 31.03.2026
The auto.Ready project is developing a readiness framework for automated mobility to support stakeholders and public institutions in its implementation. It aims to create focus use cases, survey and evaluation tools as well as monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure efficient and sustainable effects.
