Vienna will host the Transport Research Arena 2018
The 2016 issue of the Transport Research Arena was held in Warsaw from 18th to 21st April and was concluded to be an outstanding event. Under the motto "Moving Forward" roughly 2,400 experts discussed about the latest innovations and megatrends in mobility and exchanged their knowledge on comprehensive solutions for the transport and logistics sector. The most important topics encompassed the decarbonisation of transport as well as Automated Driving, digitalisation and the creation of appropriate conditions for the implementation and support of recent developments. At the end of the event, a declaration was signed by the event organisers, aiming at identifying the current and future societal challenges and integrating the expectations of users in order to make traffic safer, more sustainable and more efficient.
TRA 2018 – A Digital Era for Transport
The Closing Ceremony of this year’s TRA in Warsaw marked the end of the conference and at the same time the beginning of preparatory works for the TRA 2018 in Vienna. The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction (IBDiM) presented the TRA Challenge Cup to the Austrian organising team, represented by Head of section Ursula Zechner (bmvit). The Austrian Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology will be responsible for the overall management. They will be supported by AIT - Austrian Institute of Technology, which will be represented in the Programme Committee and by AustriaTech, which will take care of the conference organisation, the exhibition and the live demonstrations.
Under the slogan "A digital Era for Transport. Solutions for Society, Economy and Environment", the focus of the TRA 2018 will be on digitalisation as a crucial megatrend taking influence on transport and mobility all over Europe and beyond. Experts from all relevant fields shall already feel cordially invited to present and discuss the latest research results and witness new developments at the live demonstrations. he Transport Research Arena 2018 will take place in Vienna from 16th to 18th April 2018 at Messe Wien, where the ITS World Congress was already successfully held in 2012.
First held in 2006, the Transport Research Arena takes place every two years in Europe and has evolved into the major European surface transport conference. It is supported by the European Commission, the European Technology Platforms for Road, Rail and Water (ERTRAC, ERRAC and Waterborne respectively), the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR) and ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration).
